Common causes of Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile problem occurs when a person is persistently unable to get or maintain an erection rigid enough for having an intercourse. Erectile problems are very common among other sexual problems and can be treated very effectively if the treatment is initiated as quickly as possible.
Erectile difficulties appear in most cases in adult men and the causes of them are usually of physical character including:
• Diabetes, hypertension, heart or thyroid conditions, poor circulation, atherosclerosis, nerve damage, neurologic disorders and other medical conditions;
• Spinal cord injury;
• Low testosterone.
Certain medications which older men often use for lowering blood pressure such as beta – blockers, heart medications, sleeping pills and antidepressants may cause erectile problems.
Drug abuse or alcohol abuse are often causes of ED in men. Stress, fear, depression and other mental conditions impair the ability of a person to achieve and erection due to their negative effect on the emotional state of a man.
Other common causes of ED are no or poor communication with a sexual partner, previous sexual traumas and fear of failure to perform sexually.
